Our luggage rack is designed for a maximum load of up to 45 kg, but is intended solely for the transport of luggage and is not approved for the transport of persons.
The use of a child seat is not allowed for the following reasons:
- The mounting kit supplied by tubus is approved for a maximum load of 26 kg.
- We cannot guarantee the long-term durability or stability of your bicycle frame or its threaded eyelets under the dynamic loads from a child riding along.
- Only certain bicycle manufacturers explicitly approve their frames for the use of child seats, as these have been tested accordingly.
For your child's safety, please use only child seats that are mounted on frames or attachment systems that are expressly approved for this purpose by the manufacturer of your bicycle.
Yes! You can mount the luggage rack over your fender, provided it is a stable aluminum fender.
Since the position of the axle attachment varies depending on the bicycle, our fender mounting kit is fully adjustable.
It has three different attachment points, allowing the rack to be optimally adjusted to your frame.
Included are:
- various spacers,
- screws, washers, and lock nuts in different lengths.
This way, you can ensure that the screws are long enough for a secure attachment without rubbing against the tire.
For maximum safety and durability, the included adapters, spacers, and self-locking nuts must be used.
If you do not attach the rack over your fender, you can mount it directly to the seat stays of your bike frame using the mounting kit.
The mounting kit has been extensively tested, is particularly robust, and designed for lasting stability. A clear step-by-step guide is also included. The attachment struts have a maximum length of 350 mm.
However, please note that the geometry of your frame is crucial: the further the rack is mounted away from the seat stays or the further the attachment struts need to be extended, the lower the overall stability.
For the best possible stability, the distance between the rack and the seat stays should be as small as possible.
Before each ride, check that all screws are tightened securely, and regularly inspect both the attachment points on the frame and the rack.
Our extension adapters increase the compatibility of the luggage carrier with various bike frames and wheel sizes. You need an adapter if your lower mounting point is very low (close to the axle height) or if you are riding particularly large and wide tires.
Below you will find the suitable solution for your wheel size:
- 28-inch wheels: If your lower mounting point is very low (close to the axle height), you need the adapter Extension 5.
- 29-inch wheels (with 3-inch tires): With a low mounting point (close to the axle height), you need the adapter Extension 7. If the mounting point is higher, the adapter Extension 5 is sufficient.
- Fatbike: For fatbikes with large wheels or rear tires starting from 4 inches, you need – depending on the frame clearance – either the adapter Extension 5 or Extension 7.
- 32-inch wheels: With a low mounting point, you need the adapter Extension 7. If the mounting point is higher, the adapter Extension 5 is sufficient. However, with particularly wide tires (3 inches), the adapter Extension 7 or even Extension 9 may be required.
- 36-inch wheels: With a low mounting point, you need the adapter Extension 9. If the mounting point is higher, you need the adapter Extension 7.
Yes. The luggage carrier can be easily used in the rain.
Thanks to its stainless steel construction, it is extremely corrosion-resistant and does not rust under normal weather conditions.
However, we recommend avoiding prolonged contact with saltwater, sea air, or salty rain. A permanent exposure to salt can attack the protective passive layer of stainless steel and cause slight surface rust over time.
If the carrier comes into contact with road salt, it is sufficient to rinse it with clear water and then dry it.
Our carrier is designed to be compatible with modern bicycle standards without additional adjustments – including 142 mm and 148 mm Boost thru-axles, as used on most current bicycles and e-bikes.
However, if you ride an older or classic bike with a narrower rear axle width (typically 150–160 mm), the carrier may be too wide. For this, there is the No-Boost adapter.
You need the No-Boost adapter if the installation width of your rear axle (dropouts) is below the modern Boost standard – particularly with a frame width of less than 170 mm.
The No-Boost adapter is made of an aluminum alloy and comes with two safety screws. It is first mounted on the carrier, increasing its stability and then allows for a secure and torsion-resistant attachment to the bicycle frame.
